What is a Single Etch

A single dip etch is the most common type of etch jobs we get here at Shadowcrest Design.

This type of etch is:

  • a themed etch with approximately 20 - 30 hours of design time.

  • dipped one time to get the depth of the design that is perfect for your saber.

  • perfect for people just getting into the outer customization process of this hobby.

What is a Double Etch

A Double etch is the newest form of etching in the hobby. I personally came up with this process to push the etching style forward and to challenge myself. This is the premiere version of any etched saber.

This type of etch is:

  • a themed etch with approximately 30-60 hours of design time.

  • 2 designs layered onto your saber.

  • dipped two time to get the depth of the design that is perfect for your saber and to add the second design onto the original.

  • perfect for the person who wants that saber that transcends from hobby to fine art.

What is Powder Coating

Powder coating is a process of applying powder to a saber to generate color and style that can not be generated otherwise.

Powdercoating is:

  • a perfect way to add additional style to your saber.

  • used to make your saber stand out.

  • used by me as an etcher to draw your eyes into the areas I want you to see.

  • perfect for the person who wants to add more layers without going the double etch route.
